Plumbing Service Areas Near Covington, KY
One 24/7 line covers Covington and five neighboring Kenton County towns. This page shows which towns, which ZIP codes and how to tell if your address is included.
Covington and the towns we reach
The base is Covington itself, the Kenton County city of 40,961 people at the meeting point of the Ohio and Licking Rivers. From there crews drive to Fort Wright, Fort Mitchell, Ludlow, Park Hills and Taylor Mill. Each town has its own page with housing notes and the plumbing problems most likely to affect it.
Inside the city the neighborhoods include Mainstrasse Village, Roebling Point, The Madison District, Latonia, Peaselburg, Austinburg, Licking Riverside, Wallace Woods, Botany Hills, Old Seminary Square, Eastside, Westside, Lewisburg and the Riverside Drive Historic District. Every one of them is on the same emergency line.
How ZIP codes fit together
ZIP codes here do not line up neatly with city limits. Covington uses 41011, 41014, 41015, 41016, 41017, 41018 and 41019, and 41012 is a PO Box ZIP, so no street address uses it. If your mail says 41015, 41016 or 41017, you may live in a neighboring town instead of Covington, and the post office name on your envelope is only an alias.
Fort Mitchell shares 41017 with Crestview Hills, Lakeside Park, Villa Hills, Crescent Springs and Edgewood, so a 41017 address does not tell you which town you are in. Ryland Heights also lies near Taylor Mill. When in doubt, give the dispatcher your street address and they will place it. The nearest town page is the quickest way to see which services are most common there, such as drain cleaning or leak detection.
What changes from town to town
The plumbing problems follow the houses. Covington and Ludlow sit by the rivers, where older houses and basements that have seen high water are common. Fort Mitchell, Fort Wright and Park Hills mix older homes with later construction on hills, where sump pumps and drain slopes matter more than flood history. Taylor Mill has its own mix of housing, covered on its town page.
None of that changes how the line works. You call, describe what is happening, and the dispatcher asks the questions that decide whether it is an emergency. A burst pipe or a sewage backup is handled as one in every town on this page. A dripping faucet or a slow tub drain can be booked as a same-day appointment when the schedule allows.
Who owns which pipe
Most homeowners in these towns buy water from the Northern Kentucky Water District, and sewer service is run by Sanitation District No. 1 of Northern Kentucky, which also handles the older combined sewers in parts of Covington. The pipe between your house and the street is usually your responsibility on the sewer side, and the main in the street belongs to the utility.
That split matters when a drain backs up. If the blockage is inside the house or in your private lateral, a plumber clears it. If it sits in the public main, the sewer district has to act. A camera inspection shows which case you have, and the dispatcher can explain it on the call. See sewer line cleaning for how the work is done.
Planning ahead versus calling in an emergency
Many calls from these towns are not emergencies at all. Water heaters near the end of their life, toilets that run, and faucets that drip can wait for a scheduled visit, and a planned visit usually costs less than a crisis. Use the same number for both and say which one you have.
Emergencies are the ones where water is moving, sewage is coming up, gas is involved, or a pipe has frozen and split. For those, shut off the water at the main if you can reach it safely, keep people away from standing water near electrical outlets, and call. The page on burst pipe repair lists the first steps in order.
Not on the list?
If your town is not named here, call anyway and ask. Service is decided by address, and the dispatcher can tell you quickly whether a crew can reach you. For a full list of what is handled, see the services overview.
